Sam Joseph is a composer of ambient piano works, as well as a writer and broadcaster with a passion for sharing his insights about the healing effects of music and the music of uplifting artists.
He has been creating piano music since the age of four and he greatly enjoys the feeling of freedom from creating music without constraints.
Taking piano lessons against his will as a child, and later rebelling against his piano teacher by hiding in her garden, aged ten, he hasn't looked back. And that would have been it, had he not started playing the piano some fifteen years later and began what he explains as,
"An inward journey. A time when I felt really centred. Now the music just flows. But at first, I had no idea where it was coming from. It has since dawned on me, that I am tapping in to that special part of me that everyone has, which I believe is linked to our highest potential."
Writer & Radio Broadcaster...
Sam has been involved in various media projects, including internet radio, presenting a regular music show, as well as writing for various magazines.
Therapist...
When Sam qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist in 2004,
his music began to blossom.
Inspired by how his music helped him relax and find a 'new energy', Sam writes with
the intention of relaxing but also energising listeners allowing his music to be listened to 'on the go',
as a means to help listeners increase their energy, not just to 'chill out'.
"I began to understand how to affect my unconscious mind with
my music and I then learnt how to use the music to help other
people enter that state of awareness; a
calm feeling of relaxation results. And you can do this
wherever you are."
"When people are drawn to music in this way, if only for a moment, they find a space for themselves, away from their busy lives."
Films and other projects...
Sam enjoys collaborating with other creative people. His music has seen him work with well-respected artists, producing evocative music for film projects and synergistic artworks.
"This music is different. Throughout history music has become too intellectual, too constrained. And it doesn't have to be that way. Think of tribal music. Those African rhythms, the beating drums and how they affect people. They don't need rules or sheet music. But the music is powerful. It helps people reach a more focused state of mind, because their perception changes as they listen. When that happens, the listener can become linked in with their highest potential and that can mean great or subtle things for each person. This also means the music allies well with visual media, such as films and artwork installations and I really enjoy working on those projects."
Popularity...
Sam's music has gained a popular following with a broad international audience that spans the age ranges and even includes some listeners' pets!
